We’ve been in our new home now for about 15 months and I am really loving the changes that we have made that make our builder new house feel like a home. Since moving in we have added built-in cabinets that flank the fireplace, beautiful wainscoting, shiplap, paint and landscaping. There is one thing that bugs me a bit about the house…the lighting. Listen, this is really nitpicking! The house is beautiful and in the grand scheme of life it makes not one bit of difference but, being that I have a Home Decor Blog and writing about design, decorating, functionality and all things pretty is what I do, I have to admit I’m not crazy about our lighting.
So what is it that I don’t like? Well, it’s a bit modern and clean looking for my taste, it all matches and there are rounded flush mount lights everywhere…EVERYWHERE!!! Do ya’ll know the ones I’m talking about? Ok, I’ll just say it. They are frequently referred to as “boob lights” in the home decor community because they look like, you guessed it, boobs.
Lighting is super expensive and wouldn’t you guess it, all the lights that I really love are not cheap. This change will have to happen overtime, one room or even one light at a time. As I’ve been scouring the internet though I have come across several styles that I really love that won’t break the bank! I thought I’d share these pretties with you all in case you too are in boob light prison!
This beauty I actually had the pleasure to see in person. If I hadn’t and had just come across it on the website I’m not sure I would have loved it but let me tell you though it is absolutely stunning in person! The crystals are beautiful and the cage style metal adds the perfect touch to make this light a bit less formal.
I love this beauty! I have seen lights like this in all of the higher end magazines and have always thought that it was so beautiful! This light would be perfect for an entry or even hung over a farmhouse kitchen sink for some task lighting!
This is exactly what I want for above our kitchen island. I am a sucker for beaded glass! This light has several different options from finish to glass style (beaded or clear). It is simple and beautiful and could transition from rustic to bohemian to farmhouse style seamlessly.
How perfect is this school-house style semi flush mount light? A perfect option to replace the dreaded boob light, am I right? I love the simple vintage style and the versatility of this sweet little fixture!
I really love this lantern-style fixture. This would be perfect for a more industrial style farmhouse look. It is close enough to the ceiling that it can be mounted in rooms with lower ceiling and is a great alternative to the more traditional style flush mount light.
Shhhhhh. Do you hear that? It’s the angels singing! How good is this gorgeous beaded chandelier? These things are all over the place right now and they are so beautiful and sssssoooooo expensive! That’s why I was so excited to find this pretty for such an affordable price! It’s a mini chandelier so a bit smaller, but perfect for a real show stopper in a master bedroom or over a round dinette table!
Ok, this is on my MUST HAVE list! This is almost exactly like a chandelier that I have been pining over from a higher end retailer for months. It is stunning and if you happen to be cruising through Instagram’s home decor accounts this beauty might look pretty familiar to you! This style chandelier has been used over rustic farmhouse tables, in entryways and even in multiples over longer dining tables. It is a bit more expensive than some of my other choices for this post, but still a much more affordable price than the higher end store that carries a version almost identical to this one!
Simple and beautiful. This candle-style chandelier could be used in most any style from traditional to classic, farmhouse to rustic this fixture is perfect!
And last but definitely not least this beautiful Lantern Style Chandelier is perfect for your traditional farmhouse! A good friend of mine has a similar style fixture in her beautiful North Carolina farmhouse and as soon as I saw it I knew I wanted to share it for a post like this!
I hope that you love these picks as much as I do! Have an amazing week friends!
