So my last post about great farmhouse style bedding from Amazon (see that post HERE) really got me excited to give our Master bedroom a makeover! For a year our bedroom has sat untouched and uninspired. I wanted to love to go in there, maybe to spend some time there that wasn’t just to go to sleep! Thus, this style sesh happened sooner than I had anticipated!
Here are a few of the “meh” before photos….see what I mean? Meh.
First on my list was to paint our black furniture. When we bought it, I loved it and it really fit the feel and style of our last home. Styles change though (mine maybe faster than others!), and I wanted something fresher and brighter, like the rest of our home. The bedside table and dresser both got a quick coat of paint in “Delicate White” by Sherwin Williams. Boom! Instant transformation! Since the plantation style louvered doors would’ve been a nightmare to paint I decided to leave them off and throw some cute baskets on the now open shelves…and scene!
Next? New bedding!! I really like our old Pottery Barn bedding. The black and white floral print is beautiful. It is a great quality…maybe a little too great! The duvet and comforter combo was HOT…H.O.T., like Ryan Gosling hot! Not to mention the fact that, while I love the idea of a duvet cover, I don’t love literally crawling on my hands and knees inside the stinkin’ thing to tie the insert onto the duvet…who’s with me? I was in love with all of my bedding choices from my last post, but the Lush Decor Avon 3 piece comforter set from Amazon really gave me all the feels! You can shop that look HERE. It is plush, medium weight and so pretty!
Sitting area anyone? In every house that we’ve lived in I have always wanted a couple of chairs for a little seating in our Master. I really love a Fresh Coastal Farmhouse style of decor and these Byholma Rattan Armchairs from IKEA are perfection! They give a coastal feel to the space and the natural brown and grey tones really warm up the bright whites and clean lines throughout the room. The chair pad is the Marieberg style (also from IKEA) and is double sided for twice the wear. Best part? They are well-made and super affordable!
Finally, every girls favorite part… accessories! I love the look and functionality of bedside sconces. The sconces I chose were from Amazon, super affordable and super stylish, see those HERE. Below the sconces I hung two framed art work pieces in a botanical style print from Homegoods. The dual toned striped gray throw blanket is super soft and breaks up the feminine feel of the bedding and was also a Homegoods find. The lamp and magnolia wreath that I chose for the space were both Hobby Lobby finds and added a natural feel and were the perfect additions for my coastal farmhouse feel!
I shopped my home for the rest of the accessories for the space. The metal piece that the wreath is hung over was in my basement, glass canister was already here as well. The architectural salvage piece above the headboard was an antique store find and I also displayed some of my favorite necklaces on linen busts because…well, they’re pretty!
That sums it up! Nothing major…no paint, wallpaper or walls coming down, but this redo has made quite an impact on the space. With the addition of some new accessories, a couple of new chairs and that sweet bedding our ho-hum master transformed into a space that I love to be in!
