I recently did a poll on Instagram to see if people like neutral Christmas decor. I figured this would be a divisive topic since I happen to know some Christmas decor purists who think decorating with the absence of red and green is absolutely un-American. Shockingly that wasn’t the case at all! In fact, 95% of those polled said that they do like neutral holiday decor! Being the giver that I am I felt I had a moral obligation to share with you some of my neutral Christmas decor essentials…you can thank me in the comments section…bahaha!
There are a couple of reasons I like neutral Christmas decor.
- It doesn’t date itself so quickly. Since whites and silver, mercury glass and greenery are timeless, these items tend to last a little longer than if you chose the latest traditional Christmas trend. In the end that means saving cash that you can spend on handbags, throw pillows or…(insert your vice here).
- My home is neutral. I decorate with lots of white, grey and blush. Transitioning from Christmas to Winter decor is pretty seamless with neutral Christmas decor because you can reuse pilllows, greenery and throw blankets after Christmas is over. If everything I owned was red and green I would have to pack it all away and redecorate entirely for winter.
All that being said , lets get to the pretties!
For The Tree!
Using different textures and kinds of ornaments makes a neutral tree beautiful. For our tree I use mercury glass, white matte balls, sparkly snowflakes, silver faux berry sprays and reflective silver balls. I love how the lights reflect off of the whites and silvers. This combination of textures, white, mercury glass and silver make for a really beautiful tree.
For The Mantel
I’m a huge fan of a pretty Christmas mantle and nothing screams Holidays more than tons of greenery, white lights and cozy knit stockings. My top picks for a gorgeous mantel above are swoon worthy! That cascading garland is so good! With the addition of stocking holders, stockings and a few ornament’s added onto the garland your mantel is complete!
Other Neutral Christmas Essentials
The decor above is all perfect for a Neutral Christmas Style. Touches of wood tones with the sign and the set of Christmas trees bring a natural element and soften the space. Black and white buffalo check is a great choice for Christmas fabric and can easily carry over into winter decor as well. Glass or Mercury glass tree figurines are also trending and a perfect neutral decor element that can be used to decorate your mantel, tabletop or open shelving!
I literally CANNOT wait to show you my Christmas decor! Some super talented home decor bloggers and I are teaming up for a fun Christmas Blog Hop in a few days so I’m waiting till then! Stay tuned to get some serious Christmas inspiration!
Have a great week friends!
