So it’s been almost a full year of blogging coming up in March and I thought it was about time I introduced myself! I also wanted to talk a little bit about why I started my blog at this point in my life and why I couldn’t be more thrilled that I did!
I’m Haley, wife to my high school sweetheart and homeschooling mom to 3 of the very best boys a girl could ask for. I love a good project, painting, rearranging, decorating, gardening and home-making.
I have been homeschooling for 7 years and really love it. We spend what some would consider a crazy amount of time together and we’re all still alive…although somedays I question my sanity!!
Just look at those little crazies!
Shortly after moving into our current home about a year and a half ago I was feeling a stir to begin a Home Decor Blog. This from a person who, up until my blog launch, had never been on ANY social media outlet! Yup, no facebook, instagram, twitter, nothing! My boys were getting a bit older, becoming more self sufficient (I say that with a giggle because I still hear the word MOOOOMMMMM echoing through the house at least two dozen times a day), and needing me a little less. I was bored and felt like I wanted an outlet to be creative, inspired and connect with people who shared my same interests. Don’t get me wrong, the hubs loves a good DIY, but if I wanted to discuss mixing patterns, vignettes and the latest home decor trends the man would run for the hills!
I don’t want to give the impression that I was unhappy being a stay-at-home Mommy! I could go back to being that girl and love every minute of it. Sometimes I do think though, that we as Mommas can lose ourselves a bit in the constant juggle of the day to day. Soooo…after agonizing over it for months, endless discussions with my husband about whether I had the tech savviness, talent, time, blah blah blah Stately Home Lane was finally born!
That first couple of months was brutal! I realized that I AM NOT a computer programmer, professional photographer, or writer for that matter and this blogging thing is no joke! From writing interesting content, coming up with fresh ideas, photographing, lighting kits, editing, and promoting I was beat! You know what though? I was beat and happy!
Since beginning blogging I have felt fulfilled, inspired and proud of what I’ve done! Best part? I have met so many women who share a love of creating beautiful, functional and livable spaces and made so many new friends who I can’t imagine doing life without! You all have been so supportive, encouraging and kind and I’m so happy that I didn’t let fear, self-doubt or the infamous Mommy guilt hold me back from doing something that I really love!
2017 was a pretty amazing year. Stately Home Lane has been such a blessing to me and it makes me proud that my boys get to see me doing something that I love and am passionate about. Thank you for following along on our Home Decor and DIY adventures (and sometimes epic fails!), this blog would be pointless without all of you!
